April 2017 Photo Challenge – Color

One of my fave things about Spring is that the trees and flowers are in bloom.

My apologies to the pollen allergy sufferers, but I just love it!

Here are my five pics for this month:

1. Sunset at Cedar Beach

April 2017 Photo Challenge - Color: Tina B's World

I absolutely LOVE this beach! The sunsets from this point are incredible. The pics don’t do it justice!

2. Dusk at Cedar Beach

April 2017 Photo Challenge - Color: Tina B's World

Juuuust as the sun is setting on one side of the beach, this incredible color pops up on the other side. Yes, it’s just as peaceful as it looks :)

3. This Jungle Theme Background Behind Mini

April 2017 Photo Challenge - Color: Tina B's World

This was at our district author event where Mini was chosen to read her tribute poem about Carrie Fisher (which we are going to publish here soon!). I had to crop it because there were other kids int he photo and the background was falling in one spot. It is filtered to show off Mini’s shirt ;)

4. Treats from the Dessert Truck in Some Festive Easter Wrapping

April 2017 Photo Challenge - Color: Tina B's World

YES, we have a dessert truck nearby! Okay, it’s not like right around the corner, but it’s within a short driving distance. We always stop when we’re in that area. Those are Mini’s fave from the truck, their Rainbow Cookies.

5. Dyed Eggs

April 2017 Photo Challenge - Color: Tina B's World

This was the first year I was able to convince my husband that coloring eggs is fun and we should totally be doing this. I taught Mini how to dip-dye the eggs and even how to get two different colors on it. She goes and does a tri-color egg. GO MINI!!

I only have one bonus pic for this one..

At a recent birthday party, Mini was able to take her first solo go-kart ride. She. LOVED. IT! Being the only girl, of course (much to her chagrin) they stuck her in the pink car. She isn’t a fan of pink, but she just shrugged and hopped in. Look at that smile!

My Word For 2017

When is a word not a word?

When it signals a lifestyle change.

Frankly stated, I’m not a fan of making resolutions.

In fact, they kinda make me feel like this:

via GIPHY

I’m the type of person that feels like an absolute, miserable failure if I can’t or don’t accomplish something I really wanted to. It really starts to affect me. It alerts my anxiety daily and just keeps badgering me.

For 2017, I decided to jump on the “word bandwagon” and pick one. In the past, my anxiety coupled with procrastination has been my biggest hurdle. I decided my word for 2017 is….

Drumroll please….

DO!

My Word For 2017 - Tina B's World

I haven’t hit “publish” on some blog posts I’ve had waiting in the wings.

I have a few reviews I have been holding onto, trying to figure out how to word them.

There are PTA events coming up that I am in charge of and need to get to work on right away.

I need to reorganize my desk.

I need to finish reorganizing my den/office.

There are several books I started but never finished.

I’m going to stop letting my mind get the better of my and just DO the things on my to-do and must-do lists. It’s time to get my tuckus in gear and just get it all done.

Do.

What’s your word for 2017?

December 2016 Photo Challenge: Tis The Season

I have to say I enjoyed this one. The holidays come with their emotional baggage, but are usually a good time. Well, onto the pics!

Tis The Season… for hot soup! Our loaded potato soup, specifically. We start with a potato soup base and add cheddar, bacon bits and grilled chicken chunks. So. Insanely. Good. Also featured? My FAVE iced tea.. Strawberry Half & Half. YUM!

December 2016 Photo Challenge: Tis The Season

Tis The Season… for boots! We purchased Mini her boots for winter and guess what? They are a WOMEN’S SIZE 8!!! Yup, we are in adult sizes now. Shoe shopping just got a bit more expensive!

Tis The Season… for fancy neckware and Christmas-card-worthy pics! The boys are wearing some ties we found at Five Below and the girls are all sporting some scarves we found at AC Moore. Yes, we pretty much deserve a medal for being able to get the dogs to look at us. The secret is to hold a treat right in front of the camera for the dogs to stare at and tell your (wo)mancub to look at the camera and don’t blink! HAHA!

Tis The Season… to paint ornaments! Mini was a bit bored one day so we dug these out of our craft closet, found some paint and VOILA!

December 2016 Photo Challenge: Tis The Season

Tis The Season… for cozy sweaters! Cheyenne just recently turned 11 and we bought her a sweater for her birthday. She has a lot less hair than the other Pugs, so she gets chilly in the winter time. This is our solution :)

December 2016 Photo Challenge: Tis The Season

Ok, so there are my five. I have three bonus pics for this challenge.

Tis The Season… for jingle bells! This is Biggie, one of our foster cats. We put the collar on him as a joke. He loved it so much that when I tried to take it off him, he hissed and took a swipe at me until I put it back on. Ok then, kitty. Sorry this pic is a bit blurry. I couldn’t stop laughing as I was taking it!

December 2016 Photo Challenge: Tis The Season

Tis The Season… for cuddling with loved ones, resting up for holiday festivities!

December 2016 Photo Challenge: Tis The Season

Tis The Season… for sales on Build-A-Bear bears and it’s always the season for Star Trek anything! Meet our newest addition, Live Long and ProspBear!

July 2016 Photo Challenge: Photographer’s Choice

Join this Photo Challenge HERE.

July 2016′s theme is: PHOTOGRAPHER’S CHOICE.

I’m actually happy about this because it is kinda hairy finding a good photo (or 5) in the summer when you don’t get out much (stupid asthmatic allergy to AC!), but here goes:

1. You know it’s hot when you find one of your Pugs directly in front of the fan. I don’t understand why he chose the fan in the hottest room in the house though!

2. I will use any excuse to share a photo of my Pugs. I went with a B&W because it hid some of the mess behind them :)

Back: Jordan and Cheyenne
Front: Jack

3. The insane block of ice we pulled from the little fridge in the den. Keep in mind, this is a small dorm fridge and this ice block is pretty much the size of the entire freezer!

4. Mini received pretty much the COOLEST DRY ERASE BOARD EVER from my bestie. She drew some sort of Pug-man hybrid, the Gangsta Pugman. “Interesting” describes it pretty well.

5. I’m a proud member of the PTA. I love going to these training conferences. I meet some fantastic people and learn so much. This was from a training a few weeks ago. The next morning, I sat down with a cup of coffee and reviewed the handouts and my notes.

BONUS: Mini had a long day one day. Four hours of camp (one of those hours spent playing dodgeball) plus two hours of softball (where she pitched quite a bit) made for one very tired Mini. She took a short snooze on my shoulder as we waited for her hard-earned pizza :)

Well that’s my admission to the photo challenge. I can’t wait to see what the others came up with!

Blog Challenge – Topic 1

Write About A Person You Admire

I kinda wish this had come later in the month. My Mother’s birthday is the 30th and she would have been 61 this year. I will write about her at that time though..

There have been some great role models in my life. So many people are worthy of my admiration. It’s hard to narrow down to only one so here are my top three..

My Grandmother aka “Nanny”. I think getting to 91 and being as spry as her is extremely impressive. I admire her dry, sometimes sarcastic sense of humor, even amidst old age starting to wreak havoc on her body. She still works. She has a part-time gig as a Senior Companion. I’ll let that sink in a minute. Yup. She takes the “little old ladies” shopping or goes and sits with them for a while. She still drives. She loves Blackberry Brandy. She is really fun to be around and I enjoy spending time with her. I’m grateful she is around to spend time with Mini as well :)

“Judy”. Judy was the choir director at the church I grew up in. I knew how to carry a tune, but Judy taught me how to sing. She was absolutely amazing, everything a good musician could/should aspire to be. You could tap any key on the piano and she could give you the name and sing the note. When the choir was having issues, she could sing all four parts to give people an idea what they should sound like. I cherish everything she taught me. She passed away from ovarian cancer a few days before I turned 17. I feel privileged to spend the amount of time with her that I did. Every time I sing with Mini or karaoke, I silently dedicate it to her.. unless I’m drunk of course.

Mr. Ipp. My high school English teacher. Thankfully, I had him two years in a row and boy am I grateful for that! Those were two of the roughest years of my life. He gave great advice, most of which I still use to this day. He respected his students, calling us Miss or Mr and our last names. He was one of very few teachers that when you talked, you actually knew he was listening. I have a horrible poker face and when he would ask if I was okay, he would know if I was lying. When my Mother passed my Senior year, he was the first to offer condolences and urged me to talk with the school counselor. He was one of the biggest influences kicking my tail to make sure I finished school on time. I wish there were more teachers like him, even in the same school. I think there would be less trouble in school if more teachers cared and respected their students like he did.

Okay, I narrowed it down to three.

I would love to add a few more, but I will leave this be.
