5 Flawless Songs By Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston had one of the greatest voices of all time. She is a true legend. Today is her birthday and this is my little way of honoring her.

It was actually really hard to pick just five of her songs for this list because quite frankly, EVERY song she did was flawless!

That being said, here are my Top 5 and two bonuses. I didn’t add any duets because I will be posting that list separately.

“The Greatest Love of All”

“I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.” The message in this song is so important! Build your children up. Help them become their own person. It starts with teaching them to love themselves. Love yourself for who you are, then love others for who they are.

“I Have Nothing”

I’ve heard feminists decry this song, claiming you don’t have ‘nothing’ if you don’t have a man.. but I think this song goes deeper than that. It opens with asking to share life and take a person for who they are, not who you think they will be if you mold them to suit your fancy and expecting the same in return. Also, I love The Bodyguard soundtrack.

“How Will I Know”

I remember when this song came out. I remember belting out that first line in the mirror with a hairbrush. “There’s a booooy I know.. he’s the one I dream of.” I wish I had remembered this song at that key point in my life.. “don’t trust your feelings.. love can be deceiving”. It would really have come in handy.

“It’s Not Right But It’s Okay”

A true girl power anthem! Call him out when he wrongs you and tell him to get gone. Best line: “If six of y’all went out, then four of you were really cheap cause only two of you had dinner. I found your credit card receipt.” GET. HIM!

“One Moment In Time”

Such an inspirational ballad! Everyone works their whole life for that moment.

Honorable mentions:

“Exhale”

Waiting to Exhale is one of my favorite movies. Love can be tricky and ridiculous at times.

“Where Do Broken Hearts Go”

When you’re feeling broken broken, you feel lost.
