Song Title As A Theme

“Keep Me In Your Heart”

I have been thinking about my Mother a lot more than usual lately. Her birthday is August 30th. She would have been 61 this year. I have a post I am working on for that day but this is what made me think of this song..

It also made me think of marriage and relationships in general. If you keep a loved one in your heart, you will be reminded of how much you love them. You won’t hurt them or think whatever you do is okay and they will just forgive you and move on.

In the past few months, I have been to two funerals. One was my Gpa L. The other was a member of the extended family. Both had been married for 40+ years and left behind spouses that were absolutely devastated at the loss (both sudden) of their life partner.

On the way home from one funeral (not Gpa), I broke down crying. I said to my husband I couldn’t understand why he did what he did and how he could hurt me to the depth he had and just seem not to care. This was the second person I’ve seen in a short time who had lost a spouse suddenly and was devastated, yet he just gave that up willingly. I pointed out the two spouses and how they were facing a future without the loves of their life. They had no choice but to say good-bye, but he was just willing to give it all up.

And for what? A few months of whatever it was?

The point was he wasn’t keeping me in his heart. He was doing what he wanted to do. He selfishly let himself be “free” and gave up everything he claimed he loved most. The worst part is he hasn’t even said sorry, has only made excuses and refused counseling until I told him I was done with him and our “marriage” was just a piece of paper and an insurance card.

When you agree to love someone, it’s unspoken that you agree to keep them in mind.

You have someone else to think about in everything you do.

You need to keep them in your heart.
